Trading Safety Tips: Avoiding Scams

(Ky) 09/27/2026 62 views

Most trades go fine, but a few simple habits keep you out of trouble. The single most important thing to know: the website does not automatically process or transfer payments. In real-money escrow you send payment to the designated human middleman; direct PayPal or Revolut payments go straight to the other person and we can't see, refund or reverse them. Protection comes from using Escrow, checking reputation, and reporting bad actors.

How escrow protects a trade

1. Consider escrow for higher-value trades

Escrow puts a neutral middleman between you and the other trader. For real-money trades the middleman holds the payment until delivery is confirmed, then releases it to the seller. For in-game Alz trades there's no money step at all — it's a witnessed in-game exchange the middleman oversees, confirmed by both sides. Escrow reduces risk; it doesn't guarantee you'll recover a loss, so still trade carefully.

2. Know your two settlement paths

When a price offer is accepted, it can be settled two ways:

  • Complete Directly — both people confirm the trade happened. Quick, but there's no middleman holding payment.
  • Use Escrow — the buyer turns the accepted offer into an escrow; the quantity, total and currency carry over automatically and the stock is reserved while it runs.

The two paths lock each other out: once an escrow is started, direct completion is off for that offer; and if either side has already started direct confirmation, escrow can't be started for it.

3. Review before you commit

Starting an escrow shows you the exact quantity, total, per-unit price, payment method, middleman fee (with its currency) and how long your stock is reserved — before anything is created. If those terms change before you confirm, you're asked to review again, so you always agree to what you actually saw.

4. Never deliver too early

For real-money escrow, wait until the middleman confirms payment before delivering. For Alz, coordinate the exchange with the middleman, verify the items and amount in-game, and only confirm your side after the exchange has actually happened. If someone pressures you to "go first", that's a red flag.

5. Check who you're dealing with

Look at the trader's reputation, completed trades and reviews. A brand-new account pushing a high-value deal off-platform deserves extra caution. Watch for the SCAMMER badge and the public watchlist.

6. Consider a Video Trade for big deals

You can start a recorded screen-share + webcam call from a chat, an offer or an escrow. Only staff can view the recording during a dispute — it's optional proof, not a guarantee.

7. If something goes wrong

For a direct trade, use the Open Dispute action on the Offers page when it's available (it opens a support ticket). For an escrow trade, open the dispute from that escrow's page. If no dispute action is showing, contact Support and quote the escrow reference code or the item so staff can find it. Report suspicious users promptly — the faster staff know, the more they can do.
